We're highlighting the work of Caribbean-born, Diaspora, and 2nd generation Caribbean screen actors in the #CaribbeanActors series.

The Tobago-born actors is a big deal! Call it the ‘Law & Order’ effect, the star got his professional start in 2014 on the long-running tv crime procedural. He then landed recurring roles on ‘Person of Interest’, ‘The Messengers’, and ‘Modern Family’ before taking his seat at the throne of the Jabari Tribe in ‘Black Panther’.

The Yale graduate talks to Jimmy Kimmel about his early life in Tobago, Trinbagonian folklore, his mother’s restaurant, and having his mother as an anchor as his career blew up. Watch:
