Production Description
Casting ‘When Morning Comes’, a feature length film directed by Kelly Fyffe-Marshall. A young (10 year old) Jamaican boy grapples with the idea of saying goodbye to his homeland and emigrating to the ever elusive ‘foreign land’, Canada.
Roles
Jamal (Lead): Male 8-10
A small, meek and often overlooked ten year old. Standing just over 4’ tall, making it easy for him to be in places he‘s not supposed to be, making unusual friends. Always soaking up his surroundings, Jamal is intelligent and has the knowledge of an encyclopedia.
He’s a primary school student, living in rural Jamaica. His life revolves around his mother, best friend Deshane and his grandmother Verna who lives in Toronto. Being an only child, in an impoverished neighbourhood, Deshane is a big fixture in his household, but his mother does her best to keep him protected and innocent.
